- National Public Radio included the song in the "NPR 100" - the one hundred most important American musical works of the 20th century.
- The Ramones were ranked the second-greatest band of all time by Spin magazine (the Beatles were number 1).
- The Ramones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
