Red Cross Hope Store in Phoenix is Now Open

This was fun! Last month, the Red Cross contacted me to request some custom HOPE prints to display in their holiday Hope Store. Open only during the holiday season, the Red Cross Hope Store is a great place to pick up a meaningful gift for that impossible person on your list. I’m happy to say ColorBee’s HOPE prints are proudly displayed at the Hope Store.
The Hope Store features gifts that focus on emergency preparedness, items that inspire hope and packages that let shoppers honor everyone on their holiday lists with a Red Cross gift in their name. All proceeds support the Red Cross.

Pantone Color of the Year 2012

Pantone has just announced their color of the year for 2012 – Tangerine Tango! It’s orange, it’s red, it’s hot! Pantone describes it this way:
“The 2011 color of the year, Honeysuckle, encouraged us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.”

You can expect to see lots of this color in stores coming soon. Fashion designers recently showed a lot of hot reddish orange in their Spring collections and cosmetics manufacturers have used it for lipsticks and nail polish. A great way to add a pop of color to your interior spaces is to look for Tangerine Tango in pillows, tabletop accessories and of course, art prints! ColorBee will definitely use this spicy color in more than a few new prints next year. In fact, here are a few ideas…Enjoy!

John Lennon Typography Poster

“Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time”
This is one of my favorite John Lennon quotes. It’s a great reminder to slow down, take a break and have a little fun in this fast-paced world. And don’t let yourself feel bad about doing “nothing”.

The Perfectionist Who Printed Imperfect Art Prints

I’m a perfectionist. Before I ship any orders I always make sure to inspect each and every one of my prints very carefully. My Epson printer is awesome, but it’s not perfect and every once in a while I do notice a small flaw in the print. Usually the imperfection is a tiny white or black dot. If I do find a flaw, that print will be discarded, I’ll print another and a perfect print will be shipped to my customer.
What does discarded mean? No, I could never throw the prints away. The imperfections are always so teeny tiny it’s a shame to not share them. The best ones are given to charitable organizations or schools. The rest are stored in my file cabinet for safe keeping. Occasionally I’ll make some available at a deep discount in the ‘ColorBee Outlet’ section of my Etsy shop.

        Spot the Dot

Many customers who purchased these imperfect prints in the past have remarked that they can’t find anything wrong and don’t see the flaw. But I know it’s there!
All You Need Is Love - Imperfect Print Set
Where do these random tiny dots come from? White dots are caused by specks of dust that the ink prints over. When the dust speck falls off the ink goes with it, so a white dot is left where colored ink should be. Some black dots are already on the paper before I load it in to the printer. Still other black dots are very tiny ink splatters.
This weekend I went through my files and found some ‘almost totally perfect’ imperfect prints, so I’ve added them to my outlet shop. This is a great opportunity to decorate on a budget! Enjoy!
