I Am Because We Are

Here's a nice story - I received a custom request this week from a guy who was buying a surprise gift for his girlfriend.  He said she absolutely loved "How Sweet It Is", and so he bought if for her.  Then he mentioned he knew she was trying to decorate more with the same yellow-orange color that is in the text of How Sweet It Is. So he asked me to create a custom print with his own custom quote in yellow-orange text.  Is that thoughtful or what??

Since I'm absolutely positive she won't be reading this blog, here is his surprise gift.  It's based on the Ubuntu philosophy which apparently his girlfriend learned during her world travels.  I looked up Ubuntu and it's really interesting.  I think I might put this in my shop for others to enjoy.  AFTER he gives her the surprise that is :)

How Sweet It Is

Hooray! ColorBee was on the Etsy Front Page today!  My sweet print called "How Sweet It Is" was featured in a graduation-themed treasury created by KathleenCavalaro.  Personally, I think "How Sweet It Is" perfectly summed up my feelings on graduation day.  Maybe someday I'll be thinking the same thought when I retire from corporate America. :)  And today it definitely summed up my feelings when I found out How Sweet It Is was on the Front Page.
Thanks to Kathleen for creating such a nice treasury.  I visited Kathleen's shop today, she creates really groovy jewelry and has some cute dog tags for charity too.  If you haven't seen her shop, please visit soon!

Treasury West

Did you know that Etsy has 3 treasuries - Treasury Main, Treasury West and the new Treasury East.  There are a lot of members out there curating treasuries.  It's a lot of fun.  I especially like the treasuries that are based on a color combo.  Today I was featured in Treasury West in a treasury curated by DearGeorgette.  I LOVE the colors in this treasury.  In fact I love them so much I created a painting using olive and grey :)  If you haven't been to DearGeorgette's shop, check it out soon.  She has an adorable shop.  Here's a screen shot of DearGeorgette's treasury.  Gorgeous!

Also my print called Blue Skies was featured on the Etsy front page this morning!  This treasury was curated by lizzimarie.  Thank you lizzimarie, it's a really cute treasury.  Thanks for making this a beautiful Sunday!

Front Page

It's fun to find out one of your items has made it to Etsy's front page.  This is the second time it's happened for me, not bad considering I've only been on Etsy for about 6 weeks.  This time, Etsy picked up a treasury curated by Ceylan of packageinstyle.  She created a really nice treasury of colorful items as you can see in the photo below.  Too bad this front page was up at 2:00 am PDT and 5:00 am EDT.  Perhaps some of our European buyers enjoyed it, most of North America was sound asleep at that time. :) :)  Thank you Ceylan!  Please visit packageinstyle when you have a chance, she has a beautiful shop. http://www.etsy.com/shop/packageinstyle

Etsy's New Front Page Layout

Etsy has a new page layout and I have to admit I love it.  Some things Etsy does are questionable, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.  The new home page is wider and easier to read.  The front page items are all visible without scrolling down, which is awesome.  If  you haven't visited Etsy lately, check it out.  It's always fun to browse and you're sure to find something you have never seen before!
Here's my latest item, isn't it cute?

Mother's Day

Here's a cute print for mother's day.  A lot of people seem to like this one which is surprising to me.  I never know for sure what my customers are going to like.  I was sure this one would be too "childish" or "simple".  I love it so I'm glad others do too.

I made this print in two different colors and I'm thinking about creating a third.   A hint for you etsy sellers out there - make a series of your creations so that some of your items follow a theme.  I've started to do this in my shop and it seems to be a popular concept.  For instance in some cases a customer may like my "Butterflies" print, but may not purchase it if the colors don't go with their decor.  If I offer my customers the same print in more than one color scheme, they will have a greater chance of finding one they like that would work in their space.

Chocolate

I just sold another great print - Love Is Better Than Chocolate. This time to a buyer in Ohio.
I created this print after listening to the Sarah McLachlan song, Ice Cream. Sarah is a prolific singer/songwriter. She's very charming on stage and sounds terrific live. I don't know about you, but I don't like it much when I go to a concert only to find out that the artist doesn't sound nearly as good as they do on their record (have you ever seen Madonna or Britney live?). If you ever have a chance to see Sarah in concert, do it! You won't be disappointed.
